Off we go! We are on our way to the second half of the season. The first half set teams up for the run. Now they have just five games to get things right and grab a seat in the newly formatted post-season.
There two undefeated teams left. After Saucon Valley and Notre Dame Green-Pond, four teams, Southern Lehigh, Northwestern, Palisades, and Pen Argyl sit at 3-2. Three teams (Northern Lehigh, Palmerton, and Salisbury) are 2-3 and need to have a good run in the second half to reach the post-season. All games are Friday night and will pit Northwestern (3-2) hosting Saucon Valley (5-0) and Pen Argyl (3-2) traveling to Northern Lehigh (2-3) as the big games of the night. Palmerton (2-3) visiting Notre Dame GP (5-0) and Palisades (3-2) hosting Salisbury (2-3) will also have post-season implications. Bangor (1-4) makes the long ride to Southern Lehigh (3-2) and Wilson (0-5) rides route 22 to get to Catasauqua (1-4). Palisades posted a 2nd half shutout after being tied, to gain a rebound win, and Palmerton stayed continued to roll with their 2nd win of the season.
Saturday's games saw a runaway and a comeback. Northern Lehigh was tied 14-14 in the 2nd quarter and ran away for a big win. Pen Argyl, down 14-points in the 4th quarter, appeared to be headed for another loss. Two offensive scores tied the game and two pick-six's secured the 14-point win. Holy smokes, does time fly! Bangor, after losing their coach the day before, broke into the win column by topping Salisbury. On Saturday, Palmerton's Mike Stasko and Garrett Perschy finally got rolling as Palmerton topped Pen Argyl for the Bombers first win of the season.

On Saturday, Salisbury broke a 7-7 tie late in the 2nd quarter and then pulls away for a 31-21 win over Wilson. The Colonial League has just four undefeated teams left. Two square off against each other. Southern Lehigh (2-0) and Notre Dame (2-0) face each other after two years off. Northwestern (2-0) have a big test in Palisades (1-1) and Saucon Valley (2-0) hosts Palmerton.

In Kintnersville, the Pirate's night began with an emotional tribute to Coach Tom Poynton, Jr. and ended with an emotional comeback win. Northwestern overcamea 5-0 deficit at half to top Salisbury, and in Bangor, Notre Dame struggled but eventually pulled away from Bangor. In other action, Catasauqua outpointed Northern Lehigh in a shootout and Southern Lehigh topped Palmerton. Saturday saw two communities honor parents of players from both communities that have recently passed. Saucon Valley pulled away from a close game to gain a big win in week 2. |
